The interview process was quick and straightforward, involving just one round conducted via Zoom. I received a prompt offer, which I accepted. I was pleased with how efficient the process was, unlike many companies that have multiple rounds which can be discouraging for candidates.

I had an interview over Teams with a potential superior. We talked about my past experience with plants, my ability to work independently, and how I dealt with mistakes at previous jobs. It felt like a pretty easy process overall.

I got an email from the hiring manager about a month after applying. We scheduled a phone call, and he said he wanted to fly me out to San Diego for an on-site interview, which happened about a month after that. It took about 3 weeks to hear back after the on-site, but I eventually got an offer. I was a bit bummed that I gave them my current salary before the on-site, so I figured the offer would be competitive. San Diego's cost of living is almost 40% higher than where I am now, so I told them that was a concern. Overall, the interview experience was great. The people were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I think the company is doing really cool work, but because of the cost of living, compensation, and benefits package, it wasn't an offer I could accept. I get that as a small company they can't pay what big corporations do, but I wish they'd been clearer about that before the on-site interview.

They sent me an email first to set up a phone interview. The call was made by the person I'd be working for, not an HR person, which I thought was great because he knew what he wanted and had the technical vocabulary to go through my resume. The interviewer was very polite, gave me plenty of time to talk about my experience, and was smart enough to follow the whole conversation. He also gave a description of the company and position. Great interview!
