First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chugai Pharmaceutical.
Business Development Manager
First, I had an interview with the Hiring Manager. Then, there was a fit interview with the HR and Country Manager. Lastly, I had an interview case with the Hiring Manager and a Team Member, which I had to prepare and send prior to the interview.
- What are your recommendations for the opportunity presented?
Research Associate
There were 3 rounds of interviews, and it was pretty intense. At the end, I had to pick a team I liked best. The interviewers were nice though and asked stuff that was spot on.
- Can you discuss your research project?
- What is your experience level with RT-qPCR?
- Have you used both SYBR green and taqman assays before?
Researcher
I had three interviews on separate days. The first one was with a manager, and the subsequent two were final interviews. I was initially being considered for one department, but after the first final interview, they mentioned I might be a fit for another department. They wanted me to interview again because the people in charge were different. The meeting with the manager was relaxed, but the meeting with the executives in the basic research department was intense, with no smiles at all. They found my research interesting, but I didn't get the job, likely due to a mismatch in required skills. Also, one of my questions seemed to bother him, so I learned not to say unnecessary things. The interview in the other department was more relaxed, but since I hadn't interviewed with their manager, I asked some basic questions. This might have made them think I wasn't serious about job hunting (my guess). When I was contacted for the second final interview, I should have asked the recruiter about these questions (but I was skiing!). What's important to know about this company is that they offer no feedback; I had three interviews and heard nothing, which is a good reason for a negative review.
- Can you describe your research and introduce yourself?
Field Sales Representative
It started with a nice welcome and some friendly small talk. Then, the company was introduced in detail, and the role was described more closely. Afterward, there was an open and friendly conversation with two people. Once all questions were answered, there was also time for my own questions.
- Could you tell us something about yourself?
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Chugai Pharma?
- Why are you interested in a field sales position?
