First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chuck & Don's.
Assistant Manager
They asked a bunch of questions about strengths and weaknesses. If I were to apply again, I'd do some research and think about how I am on a team. There were questions about what your leader would say your greatest weakness is. Also, in a team, have you ever not liked someone and how did you handle it? Overall, do your homework and prepare if you want the job.
- What is your greatest weakness?
- What would your leader say is your greatest weakness?
- Describe a time you disliked someone on your team and how you managed the situation.
Supervisor
I sent in my application online when the store was just getting started. A few days later, the store manager gave me a call for a phone interview. After that, I had to come in for a computer pre-screen which had a bunch of strange questions; it was pass or fail but mostly common sense stuff. Then, about two days after the pre-screen, they called me in for an interview. I talked with the store manager and assistant manager, and it was pretty relaxed. Be ready for a long one when you go in, they have like ten pages of questions, and a lot are repeated or worded strangely, so take your time to really think about your answers. Most of them were about situations you might face and your knowledge of the company. They offered me a team member role a couple of days later, not the supervisor one, because they weren't looking to train a supervisor at that time. From that, I guess I should have realized that dealing with the upper management would be tough. The whole thing took a little over a week.
- Can you share an instance where you handled a challenging customer?
- Describe your approach to leadership.
- What's your familiarity with pet food products?
Store Manager
I had to do a presentation to showcase my retail and customer service background. Then I met the District Manager in person and spoke with the CFO on the phone. It took a while to hear back about their decision.
- What makes you a valuable addition to our company?
Sales Associate
I went through the process and was able to get through it. Overall it was pretty easy and very rewarding. I love the company in general. I look forward to working and will learn about it even more.
- What are your 5-year career goals?
