Chromocell Corp. Interview Questions
& Process

I applied to Chromocell after seeing a job posting on my school's job board. It was in my career field so I decided to apply through their brief application process. The next day I received an email that they would like to see me fore an interview. I sent back my availability and was given an interview for the next week. I walked into the building and was greeted by the receptionist who gave me a sheet that had five people on it that were supposed to interview me. They would be doing so in 30 minute chunks. The interview process was definitely intense and one of the interviewers absolutely grilled me on behavioral questions. Trust me, if science is not your life, this is not the job for you. Although it was a long interview, it was not too difficult as long as you stay professional and answer the questions in a straight forward manner. They told me at the end I should know in two weeks if I got the job or not. After a week and a half, I received an email with a job offer and I accepted.

After submitting a cover letter and resume, I had to complete some standard personal information. The interview was scheduled within a few weeks, and I had to choose the date and time. There were five 30-minute interviews back-to-back, totaling about 2.5 hours. One of these included a tour of the lab. Most questions focused on my resume and asked me to describe myself. The final interviewer asked behavioral questions. The interviewers were all very nice and relaxed, which made it a good experience. I received an offer two weeks after the interview and accepted.

The interview process is the same for everyone, from students to PhDs. It starts with a one-on-one chat with a random employee who might not even know the role. Then there are more one-on-one interviews, five or six in total, with different random employees. You'll get asked the same things repeatedly, leading to awkward silence. The whole thing lasts about 3 hours. It's a shame for those who have to come back for round two.

The interview was onsite. No phone screening was conducted. I interviewed with three people, one-on-one with each. If you need directions, use Waze; Maps led me astray. The interviewers were very nice overall.
