First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
IT Manager
The recruiter was responsive. It was a three-person panel interview, followed by a 1-on-1 with the hiring manager. The environment was great, open, and polite. They were professional and seemed to really care about people. They mentioned their mission about Faith, Family, and Culture a lot.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a people-related challenge.
- Can you share an example of a process you improved?
- Walk me through a technology project or problem you managed.
Managing Director
The interview is pretty sterile, they have a list of stock questions. It would help to know some stuff about the Choctaw. You should probably have a Choctaw person interviewing you. Finding good people is tough for the Nation because of where it is, the pay, and folks not wanting to work for a casino.
- Can you share an instance of your greatest kindness?
- What is your understanding of Choctaw history?
Data Engineer
It was a pretty straightforward process with two rounds. The first one was a screening where they asked me about SQL, ETL, and some technical business stuff. The second round was a panel interview with five people, and we went over case studies and technical questions from my resume. They mentioned the second round might be in person.
- Can you tell me about fundamental SQL concepts?
- How do you approach SQL performance tuning?
- What are your thoughts on data structures?
Health Administrator
The interview process usually happens in person, but the hiring committee was really flexible and helpful, allowing the internship to be done over the phone. The committee was friendly and asked good questions that helped me show my skills and interests.
- Can you describe how your past experiences fit with this role?
- What would you do in a given scenario?
- What are you interested in?
