First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at China Telecom.
Billing Assistant
I had an online interview with the hiring manager, and then an in-person one with the director. They asked about my past work, daily tasks, and how I handle billing, customer, and internal team interactions. The process was easy and straightforward.
- Can you describe your previous job duties and what aspects you believe you could have improved upon in that role?
ICT Engineer
The HR Manager asked me why I wanted to join the company and why I was interested in this specific role. They also asked me to talk about my past projects and asked a lot of personal questions, like if I was the single child and which city I came from.
- Tell me about your projects and answer some personal questions, such as whether you are the only child and what city you are from.
Technical Engineer
The interviewers asked really detailed questions and took their time learning about my previous work, especially if I had experience with competitor companies. They were very polite, and the interview felt more like a casual chat than a formal process.
- Can you discuss your previous experience and work environment when employed by a rival company?
Internal Auditor
The interview process involved two main rounds. The first round was a face-to-face interview that was scheduled with short notice, just two days beforehand, but it went quite smoothly. The second round was a video call with the CFO. This interview, however, was a very negative experience. The interview appointment was only communicated the day before, around 5 PM. During the call, the interviewer's network connection kept dropping, interrupting the conversation. Furthermore, the interviewer was very disruptive, interrupting me multiple times and showing a reluctance to listen. When it was my turn to ask questions, the interviewer abruptly stated I only had 5 minutes, which felt rude given the circumstances. It made me wonder why I was contacted if the interviewer lacked adequate time. Both interviews were conducted in Mandarin.
- Could you please share some information about yourself and walk me through your relevant experience?
- Are you able to communicate and prepare reports in Chinese?
