Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Children's Minnesota.
Registered Nurse
It was a pretty simple interview process. First I talked to HR, then the unit manager. I got a tour of the unit and all my questions were answered. The interview itself was pretty standard. The only downside was waiting to hear back, which took longer than I wanted.
- What makes you want to join Childrens Minnesota?
Registered Nurse
The interview process was 3 steps. First, I had an initial phone call with a recruiter discussing the job, and what they’re looking for in a candidate. The next step was an interview with the hiring manager, and 2 other employees. This was an in-depth panel interview where I was asked several questions about my experiences/how I would handle certain situations. Lastly, I had an interview with the Department Director, which was very informal and more of a “person to person conversation” about the company, and the role they’re filling. HR was very responsive and did a great job keeping me updated throughout the process.
- Describe a mistake you made and how you dealt with it.
Registered Nurse
I was asked a lot of behavioral/scenario questions like ones I've seen in other reviews. Some of the recruiters don't seem qualified to screen people out. It felt like they just wanted to see if I knew what to expect in the position. Honestly, during the whole process, it felt like I was just another name on a list the recruiter had to get through before the week ended. When I asked when I'd hear back, they said they still had to interview others that week and I should hear within a week, which felt like a hint I didn't get the job.
- Can you share an instance where you faced a challenging situation involving a colleague or a patient?
- What is your definition of diversity, and what does it signify to you personally?
