First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Children's Hospital Of The King's Daughters.
Nursing Care Partner
After applying online, I got an email to set up a phone interview. Then they sent a link to upload my references and schedule my in-person interview. The education coordinator interviewed me and seemed keen to hire me quickly. The only issue was the orientation dates, which are once a month, and I was close to the cutoff for the next one. A few days later, HR called with an offer, but I had missed the cutoff for the earlier orientation, so I got put into the session for the next month.
- Can you tell me about your nursing skills?
- Are you interested in pursuing a career on this unit after you graduate?
Registered Nurse
I applied to a few jobs on CHKD Careers. A little bit later, I got an email asking to set up a phone interview with a talent acquisition specialist. They asked about my resume experience and my nursing certifications. We talked about the CHKD base pay for the job, which they said was $28-29/hr. I got switched to a new recruiter who then invited me to a hiring event. After the event, I was asked to set up my references, which I've done. CHKD isn't great at communicating unless you follow up yourself.
- Tell me about your background as an RN.
- Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a patient or client.
- Tell me about a time you anticipated a patient's needs.
Medical Assistant
It was a really easy interview process, especially for veterans. The hiring manager had a military background, which was cool. The company is really understanding and gives people a shot to get into the medical field. They're super thorough with the work physical, which you'd expect in this line of work.
- Can you tell me about your relevant certifications and licenses for this role?
Patient Access Technician
The whole hiring thing took about 20 days from when I applied at the end of July to getting an offer in mid-August. It was just one interview round where they really laid out what the job was about and what they were looking for. I met with two nice ladies who were super informative and made the whole interview feel pretty relaxed.
- Can you share something about yourself that isn't listed on your resume?
- What makes you think you'd be a great fit for this position?
- How would you manage a situation with an upset parent?
