The interview was really positive and felt more like a casual chat. They asked me about a couple of hypothetical situations, why I wanted to join CHOP, and what sets me apart from other applicants. Then, the hiring manager had me chat with the current office coordinator for about 15-20 minutes to learn more about the day-to-day and ask any questions. After that, the hiring manager gave me a tour of the department, introduced me to the team, and mentioned that the hiring process at CHOP can be quite lengthy, noting it took her a while too. She expressed hope in seeing me again soon, so fingers crossed!

So, first I did a one-way video interview. Then, I had a chat with the hiring manager. After that, I interviewed with two team members. Then, two more separate interviews with other team members. So, four interviews in total. After all that, they didn't even let me know the position was filled. I had to chase the hiring manager for a response, which is just ridiculous and super unprofessional, especially with all the time I invested. They should just do one panel interview instead of four separate ones. Candidates don't have endless time for interviews they might not even get. Stop wasting our time. My time is as valuable as a hiring manager's. Plus, I had to submit transcripts and references for 5 people and past HR folks before even getting an offer. You'd think they'd have some consideration, especially during a pandemic. It's wild that healthcare orgs with missions about helping people and promoting diversity can have hiring managers lacking basic decency or communication skills. If you can schedule four separate interviews requiring prep and time, you can definitely let me know you picked someone else. I'll take my skills elsewhere. This org will keep losing talent with such a tedious process. Any place that operates like this is probably not a good place to work anyway.

You'll have a recruiter call, then a face-to-face interview. If that goes well, you'll get a job offer. They do a really thorough background and education check, which takes about 6 weeks. After that, there's new employee orientation, and then you start the job. CHOP is super careful with checks. It might take a while, but if you're moving along, it's probably worth it for a good paying job.
