Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Children's Aid.
Social Worker
It was a pleasant and welcoming interview. They made me feel comfortable, like I could just be myself and they appreciated honest answers. Three people were there, and it wasn't scary at all. Everyone asked questions, even the HR person who was there.
- Can you describe your experience?
Social Worker
The interview process started with an initial phone call. Following that, I had an in-person interview with a clinical supervisor, who wasn't very clear about the hiring process details. I later found out there would be a total of 5 interviews, including three in-person meetings with different staff, an on-site demo lesson, and a meeting with the program founder. I was also given vague instructions about the demo lesson content. When I arrived, the class I was supposed to teach (8th grade) was changed at the last minute to 7th grade, making my lesson plan and materials not quite suitable for the age group. The entire process took nearly two months from start to finish. Because the HR staff seemed new, I didn't receive direct deposit forms until I had already started working, and even then, my site director had to push to get it processed.
- What would you do in a given situation?
Social Worker
The whole thing took about two weeks. It consisted of two online interviews with two senior staff members, and then an in person lesson plan preview at the location.
- What is your idea of inclusion in the workplace?
