First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Ticket Sales and Service Associate
I applied online and then came in for a quick 20-minute chat. They asked about my interest in the arts, my availability, and my current work situation, since this would be a second part-time job for me. A few days later, they called and offered me the position.
- What kind of arts are you into?
Telemarketer
This was for a part-time position, I'm a college student with a full course load. They asked me why I saw myself working for the Symphony Orchestra and if I've done telemarketing before. Nothing really too challenging to answer provided you did your research on the CSO before heading into the interview. I ended up expecting the offer, but postponed working for them as I will be traveling outside the country.
- What is your general availability for the week?
Creative Director
I got an initial screening email from HR. Then, I had one remote interview with upper management. The final round had three stages. It was a bit unusual that HR contacted references before the final interview.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join the CSO?
Intern
The interview was scheduled a long time after I sent my resume. But it was friendly and quick once it started. Overall it was nice. I got the offer about a week after it finished.
- Can you introduce yourself and describe your current role?
