& Process

The interview involved questions about past experiences and abilities. They asked good questions about soft skills and hard skills, but weren't as knowledgeable about work-life balance protections. They did mention some awareness of advancement opportunities through cross-departmental collaboration initiatives.

First, there was an initial screening, and then I had an in-person panel interview with three people. After the interview, there was no follow-up, and my status just stayed as "pending." The Chicago Park District was in the middle of changing their onboarding process at the time, but they never responded to emails or follow-ups.

The interview process was super chill and the people were sweet, I felt super comfy. It was a maximum of 4-6 questions, and I remember sitting down with 2 interviewers in a large room. It took maybe a maximum of 6 minutes.

This interview felt like it was for a government job. They first asked about my background, like if I had the right degree for the job. They also asked if I could work non-standard hours. Then came some typical behavioral questions about handling problems like scheduling mix-ups, unhappy clients, or too much work. I met with a former Special Event Manager who's now in a higher role at the Dept. of Revenue, and the current Assistant Director of Events. An HR person was there too, but didn't ask questions, just explained the rest of the hiring process at the end. It all took about half an hour.
