First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chicago Fire FC.
Ticket Sales Representative
I had an intro phone screen, then a zoom call with 2 managers. The third interview was in person with the manager and the strategy VP. They asked straightforward questions about my background, but I was also expected to "sell myself."
- What makes you stand out from other candidates?
- Can you tell us about your background?
- How would you present yourself to us?
Accountant
The process started with a staffing agency, then I spoke with HR, followed by my direct manager, and finally the CEO in an interview that happened on a Sunday. All interviews were pretty standard, talking about my background and how it aligns with the club's needs. The Sunday interview was a bit unusual but kind of cool given their office policies. The office culture is really great, very close-knit and everyone is easy to get along with.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join our team?
- What drives you?
- Do you have a passion for sports?
Ticket Services Representative
I had two interviews for this role. First, a phone call with HR, who really sold me on the club and got me excited for the next round. Then, an in-person interview with the manager and director. They asked straightforward questions, but the director made some odd comments about me being qualified but not for this specific position. Even though I was later offered the job, the director repeated that he didn't think I was prepared, which was a turn-off. Also, they initially mentioned a base salary with commission, but the offer letter stated hourly with commission, which was frustrating.
- Are you prepared to spend a lot of time on the phone?
- Are you prepared to work a lot of hours?
- If you could meet any 3 people, who would they be?
Project Coordinator
I had a really bad time with this interview process. It seemed like nobody was organized and they didn't care about my time at all. I went through 6 interviews, some remote and some in person. They seemed really into me, but they were awful at letting me know what was next. After I got ghosted, I had to ask HR for an update, and she told me they decided not to fill the role and were still figuring things out. My advice to them would be to stop interviewing 6 people if you aren't even sure you want the job.
- Can you describe your past experience?
- Could you share some examples of projects you have managed?
