Had a really informative chat. The people interviewing me were super friendly and professional, and I liked the vibe, felt more like a conversation. They mostly asked about my previous work history and any tough situations I'd dealt with. Also touched on my future plans, what I'm good at, and where I could improve.

The initial interview was with an asset management group and went well. I interviewed individually with each person, who were at various levels from head analyst to operational support. It was challenging to engage with such diverse personalities. Most of their questions centered on my background and experience. Since it went well, I was invited back for a second interview with the head trader and the top decision-maker. The head trader likely requested this second interview, but the Portfolio Manager's focus shifted to asking if I would consider retail sales. From that point, things went poorly because I applied for Trade Ops hoping it would lead to a trading role, and retail sales is definitely not my forte. Ultimately, I did not receive an offer.

I applied online and got a quick voicemail response, but it took a few days to connect with the recruiter for a phone screen. She said she'd get back to me, and later that afternoon I got the invite for an in-person interview early the next week. The in-person interview was at the HR office. I had to fill out a paper application which was annoying since I'd already done it online. The HR staff and waiting area were nice though. I didn't wait long to meet the interviewers. First, I spoke with a senior recruiter, and then with the VP who would be my supervisor. The recruiter interview was pretty standard, asking about my experience and resume stuff. The interview with the training VP was really fun and we chatted about lots of things, not just training. The main issue was she wanted someone to stay in the assistant role long-term, and I told her I planned to go to grad school for learning development. The whole interview took about 2.5 hours, with minimal time spent on paperwork or waiting. The worst part was waiting for the decision, which took 3.5 weeks. We all got a generic email saying they'd keep our resumes on file, which felt like a rejection. I didn't get a good sense of the work culture because I didn't meet many people and the HR office was separate from the main office areas. It seemed corporate conservative. I think I would have liked the job and the VP, but I don't know if the position still exists after the bank was sold.

Got an email first, then a phone interview, followed by a one-on-one, and finally an interview with the hiring manager. Everything went smoothly, and it seemed like they were reading from scripts.
