First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cherokee Federal.
Security Analyst
I went through 2 rounds of interviews. Most questions required giving specific examples of experiences. The first interview was a phone screen and then I was brought in person to interview with a 3 person panel. The hiring team was really easy to talk to.
- Can you share an instance where you drove a change within the organization?
Property Manager
The hiring manager didn't have his camera on, which was strange, but we proceeded with him and the recruiter. He asked me about how I handle specific scenarios and described the daily tasks. The conversation flowed well, and I felt I learned about the company and the job. I also felt my skills were a good match. The recruiter agreed and complimented my communication during the interview setup.
- Are you comfortable starting this job without the hiring manager present?
- How would you handle specific situations that might arise?
- Can you describe the day-to-day responsibilities of this role?
Research Fellow
This was for a research role on a team that was already fully staffed, so things moved really fast. The only interview was a phone call with an HR recruiter, after which they planned to extend an offer. They inquired about specific research experiences, but no technical questions were asked. I also got to ask questions about the role and my responsibilities.
- Could you describe your background in qualitative research?
Research Associate
I had a quick call with a recruiter who unexpectedly called me on a Monday evening. She asked a lot about my background and what I was looking for. Then, I had a longer phone chat with the lead biomedical engineer for the contract, where we discussed the role and my experience. The next day, the project manager for the contract called me for an interview. After that, I was invited to come in for an all-day, in-person interview with other candidates.
- What are your salary expectations?
- Do you enjoy traveling?
- Are you comfortable working with military and law enforcement personnel?
