I had phone chats with both the recruiter and the direct manager. Over a few weeks, these calls let me meet a lot of the team and gave me chances to go over HR stuff and show my technical skills.

Got a call from a recruiter about two weeks after applying online for a 30-minute phone screening, she was nice. They invited me to interview the next week. A month later, I got an email for a second interview and was told I'd hear back within a week. My emails to the recruiter about thank you and follow ups went unanswered for ages and were generally not addressed, but rather scheduled another interview. I know time is a constraint but a quick response within a few days seems possible. The actual interview and in-person meeting with the recruiter went great. However, the lack of communication leaves much to be desired. The interviews were really relaxed and questions were relevant to the job. Everyone I met in person was super professional.

The interview was invasive and inappropriate. The interviewer spent the entire time talking about themselves, their career progression, and how many people they've mentored. They read my resume aloud and commented on it, but talked over me when I tried to discuss my qualifications. Near the end, they looked at my resume again and made assumptions about my living situation (military base, spouse active duty), stating they don't invest in candidates who won't stay long. This seemed like an EEO violation, especially given the company's public support for hiring military spouses. The interviewer also asked my age and repeatedly used the wrong name, despite corrections. They said I'd hear back in a few days, but it's been over a month with no communication. This was a very disrespectful experience, unlike other companies that support military families and offer better compensation. I learned to disengage from such interviews in the future and am glad I stood my ground politely.

The recruiter reached out initially. I tried contacting him back three times with no response. So I emailed HR saying a recruiter tried to contact me and I never heard back. Then I just applied to the job to see what happened. I had a 30-minute interview, felt like a box-ticking exercise for a senior position. Never heard back. Only knew it was filled because it was removed from the website.
