First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chelsea Technologies.
Senior Software Engineer
Applied through an agent. Had a Skype interview, followed by a technical face-to-face interview. There was a long written test and an online test. About a week later, there was another in-person interview. The interviewers were 15-20 minutes late both times, no meeting room was booked, and there were other hassles. Once we could talk, they were friendly and professional. They said they'd give feedback in a few days, but never did. Haven't heard anything since the third interview.
- Mainly technical questions; they weren't interested in service management or customer-facing skills.
IT Administrator
I applied through Bowman Williams recruiters and had a Skype chat with one of them first. Then, the company set up an interview. I didn't get a formal job description or salary range from Chelsea. My in-person interview was with Helpdesk Manager Nelson Rivera, and it ended with a written exam. They were nice enough to let me do it during my lunch break from my current job. The office seemed clean and cozy, and the office manager was very nice. I sent a thank you note, but never heard back. A week later, I found out they chose someone else. I emailed Mr. Rivera (who was polite and down-to-earth during the interview) asking for feedback on my exam and how I did, since I made the effort to take time off work for it. I never got a reply, which I felt was really rude. I definitely won't be interested in working with Bowman Williams' clients again.
- Could you tell me about some of the new features in Exchange 2010?
- What were some typical networking questions you encountered?
- Can you discuss any Active Directory questions you were asked?
Engineer
It was a pretty standard and straightforward interview process. It started with HR, then a joint interview with HR and the tech team lead. After that, I met with the manager, and the final round was with at least one member of senior management. Along the way, there was also a DISC assessment, a background check, and a technical questionnaire to complete. Overall, the atmosphere was friendly.
- What are your technical strengths and weaknesses?
- What technical areas are you personally interested in focusing on for improvement?
Systems Engineer
You'll start with a written test covering server, networking, and storage. Make sure you're solid on common ports, AD/Exchange, BES, DNS, Cisco hardware, HP servers, and SAN storage. After that, you'll chat with the CTO, who'll ask about your past roles and responsibilities. Expect some troubleshooting questions too, to see how you handle problems.
- Can you differentiate between BES and BIS?
