So there's a hiring manager round which is usually resume focused, they'll loop on design, analytical, behavioral and technical. Then there's a final presentation based on your experience. Questions are usually based on familiar products like Walmart, Amazon, Lyft etc. Could include 1 or 2 cases per round, 4 behavioral questions in one round since each is 60 mins.

This company's interview process was intense, with multiple rounds requiring over 40 hours of preparation, including a final presentation for their C-suite and senior leaders. I made it to the final stage, but the feedback was vague ('your presentation didn't measure up'), offering no real help. Shockingly, after being told the role was filled, they reposted the exact same job a week later with no explanation. My follow-up emails were then ignored. The interviews focused heavily on technical and operational specifics of my current company's systems and procedures. It felt more like they were trying to extract competitive information than conduct a fair assessment. Considering their market position in background checks, I expected more professionalism, transparency, and respect for candidates' time, especially from a direct competitor. It gave me the impression their hiring funnel is a tool for gathering strategic intelligence rather than a genuine talent search. If you're in the same industry, be very careful about revealing too much.

I interviewed for a staff Product Manager role. The process had six rounds. One round was an impromptu case study, which was fun. The last round involved a panel interview with 3 leaders where I had to present a case study on a feature I worked on, which took a lot of prep. During the panel, the interviewers were clearly communicating via a group chat, looking at their phones and giggling, which felt disrespectful. Despite being irritated, I stayed professional. I was unsure if I wanted the job after that, imagining working with them. The recruiter was professional and emailed me the next day to schedule a call for two days later. She called on time and told me I didn't get the job because they found someone with more relevant experience in the background check industry. I asked for feedback, and she said everything I did was great, but the other candidate was just a better fit for that specific industry. It seems like they already knew who they were hiring, which makes me feel like my time, especially on the case study, was wasted. I hate Checkr and wouldn't interview there again, especially since their product is apparently bad. Hiring only people with specific industry experience might hurt innovation. The whole thing took over a month. Glad I dodged that bullet.
