The interview process wasn’t bad, but it was really drawn out. I applied in February 2025, and there was about a two-week gap between each stage. So, the final interview was in early May. It involved an initial recruiter call (which took two tries because the recruiter ghosted me for a week the first time), a chat with managers about my experience, a technical interview, and then two onsite interviews – one technical and one behavioral. Things were going fine until the last behavioral interview where the manager dropped that promotions are only for the team, not individuals, framed in a 'team-as-family' way. That was a big red flag for me. After that, I heard nothing back. While it didn't end up being a loss for me, it does show their overall approach to hiring and communication.

The interview process started with a recruiter call. After that, there was a call with the hiring manager who asked me general data engineering questions and some coding questions, covering topics like observability, good coding practices, testing, and CI/CD.

So the whole process for this role was 4 stages. First, a recruiter call to screen my CV and check if I'm a good fit. Then, an online assessment with one algorithm problem and one backend exercise. After that, there was a coding interview, and then a system design interview where I had to design a data pipeline to calculate some analytics. Finally, there was a take-home exercise to design and implement a data pipeline, and then the offer stage.
