The recruiter reached out after I applied online. He was super helpful and gave me all the info I needed. After a couple of phone chats, they set up my interview. When I got there, I met with the director and project management from the KC office. It was about 30 minutes and there were 4 people. I got the offer in about 4 hours after leaving, and started 3 weeks later.

Hiring is pretty much tailored towards ex-AT&T workers who have retired. Outside of that, a simple recommendation from a current employee will probably land you a job. The 'Design Engineer' title seems to attract recent engineering students with B.S. degrees in any engineering discipline, but there are also many with B.A. degrees who work as design engineers.
