First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chatham University.
Assistant Professor
We did a Skype interview first, which was fair but quite controlled. Then we went to the school for the in-person interviews. The professors were nice, but one was leaving soon for another university, which felt like a bad sign. The dean, who was the main interviewer, seemed pretty snobby. For the interview lecture, it was just the dean, a secretary who fell asleep, and a really nice VP. The organization of the presentation felt messy.
- What subjects will I be teaching next semester?
- What are the long-term plans for this position?
- Who is the intended audience for the courses I'll be teaching?
Admissions
The job description wasn't accurate, as halfway through the interview, I found out they were hiring for a different position. I was underqualified for it then, but I still felt the interview itself went pretty well. But, I never heard back from them. I think they should have at least let me know I was underqualified. It felt like they had a very specific person in mind, and if that was the case, they shouldn't have even interviewed me based on my resume.
- Tell me about your previous experience.
Data Entry Clerk
So I had this virtual interview, right? They asked me about my experience with data entry and any projects I'd done. Then, I had a 2.5-hour in-person interview where they asked pretty much the same things about my experience and projects. After all that, they didn't even bother sending a rejection email. Super rude, honestly.
- Could you share some data entry projects you've been a part of?
- Tell me about your experience with data entry.
- Describe any data entry projects you have participated in.
Student Account Representative
They asked open-ended questions and gave me a description of the job duties. The interviewer was friendly and on time. They explained what the next steps in the process would be, but didn't tell me the salary range because it was already in the job description.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
