Product Manager
We started with a quick chat to see if it was a good fit. Then, I was given a pretty big case study to work on, with two options to choose from. They estimated it would take about 6-10 hours, but I ended up spending around 25 hours to complete both options. After they looked at the case study, I had another interview with the CFO. The last interview was in person, where we talked more about the case study and had a long, casual conversation to check for culture and character fit.
- What is your ideal path once you join the company?
Full Stack Software Engineer
The interview started with an initial phone screen and a technical phone screen. This was followed by a video interview. A profitable company. The offer was hesitant, made over email. The founder is bad at negotiating, offering an undervalued salary and being harsh when asked for more. They'll mention company ARR but won't help with commute. The office is in a bad commute area with no benefits for assistance. Junior engineers are creating a lot of technical debt.
- Can you recursively iterate through a JSON tree structure?
Software Engineer
So I had this chat with the founder, like an hour long, about tech I've used. Then we were supposed to have a technical interview, but he cancelled it on the day of, which is fine, but then he wanted to do it the next day. I already had a packed schedule with other interviews, so I had to push it to the following week. And then he was just like, 'Oh, whatever, we hired someone,' which was a total waste of my time. It seems like they don't value people's time there and it's kinda chaotic.
- Can you tell me about the general technologies you've used?
- What about your design decisions?
Music and Data Journalist
I had a Zoom phone interview where we talked about the job, what I'd be doing, and looked at writing samples. After that, I met the CEO and another person in person. It was a pretty chill and easy interview.
- Tell me about the music you listen to.
