First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Charles Products.
Human Resources Manager
The whole process from first contact to getting the offer took about 2-3 weeks. I had 3 rounds of interviews. First, a screening with the HR Director. Then, a round-table with the CEO, CFO, and Head of Operations. Lastly, another round-table with the rest of the leadership team.
- What are your thoughts on HR and its role within a company?
Production Artist
In a recent interview I went through, I encountered a concerning issue that I believe all graphic designers should be aware of. During the interview process, I was unexpectedly asked to complete a design task without any form of compensation. This experience highlighted the problem of companies requesting free work from interviewees, a practice that devalues the expertise and effort that designers put into their work. Regardless of whether there was a promise of exposure, it's important to recognize that asking interviewees to provide free work is not only unfair but also goes against the principles of respecting a designer's time and skills. Such requests are unethical and can lead to an industry-wide trend of underappreciation. Designers need to stand up for their worth and reject the notion that their talents should be exploited during the interview process. Additionally, I find it very unprofessional to receive a rejection email at 9:30 at night and it speaks a lot about work life balance.
- If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
Talent Management
I had a really close interview process where I talked with every leader. I had 1 on 1 talks with 3 leaders: the CEO, CFO, and Finance Controller. We talked about different technical things, how I'd fit with the culture, and my past experience.
- Can you share your experience with cultural transformation and your journey as an artist?
- Tell me about your entrepreneurial background as an artist.
Office Manager
The office is really nice and clean, and the reception area is super professional. You'll have to do a math test with some basic calculations and word problems. It's related to the kind of stuff you'd be doing on the job. If you did okay in high school math, you should be good.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
