Content Specialist
I applied online for the Content Specialist job. First, I had to complete a writing assignment of about 900 words about foreclosed real estate. About a week after submitting it, I got an email saying they liked my writing sample and wanted to interview me. The following week, I took my portfolio to the Charfen offices. Once there, I was given a personality assessment to fill out, along with a long job application. After waiting about 45 minutes, I was told there were no offices available for my interview. So, the interviewer took me into the lobby and we talked for about half an hour. He asked me standard questions about my previous jobs and why I was interested in working at Charfen. At the end of the interview, he mentioned he would send me another assignment, this time a PowerPoint, in the next day or two. When I didn't get it, I emailed the company. I was then informed that the position had been filled by someone already working there.
- Are you okay with having a manager?
- How do you handle constructive criticism?
Event Coordinator
I applied online and then got a call for an interview. The first interview was a group/panel interview with two employees. We had to take a DISC personality test, which is just for them to understand how we communicate. We could ask them anything about the company or their jobs. I'd say, share what kind of work culture you want to be in. They want real passion, not just textbook answers. Be yourself! The next interview was with HR and the Events manager. About a week later, they offered me the Events position.
- Can you share examples from your past work experience?
- Tell us about the kind of work culture you'd like to be a part of.
- What are you passionate about?
Member Service
I saw this job online and sent an email. HR called me back quickly for a phone screen. It felt like they were more focused on my personality and why I wanted to join the company rather than my technical skills. I had a really good vibe. They invited me to a group interview the next day. There were about 5-6 of us applying for similar roles. We did a personality test, and before we started, the HR team made sure we understood the purpose of the test and why we were taking it, which made it easy to be authentic. They asked a lot of questions about my past experience and future aspirations. Then, they explained the career opportunities available at the company, which got me really excited. A few days later, HR contacted me about a different position. They explained that based on my personality and background, they believed I'd be a better fit for another role. I went back to Charfen Institute for another interview, this time onsite, where I met three executives: the CEO, CTO, and VP of Marketing. They inquired about my goals, motivations, personality, and experience. Overall, I had nothing but a positive impression of the company. I found it unique that they prioritize personality, willingness, and cultural fit over specific skills in their hiring. After working there for a year, I can confirm that this approach hasn't changed. If you're eager to learn, grow, and seek challenges, you'll likely have a very positive interview experience.
- Regarding your previous job, since you seemed to enjoy it, could you explain why you decided to leave?
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
- What motivates your interest in working for our company?
Human Resources Manager
I got an email asking if I could chat with the VP of Ops over the phone, and I replied super fast. They called me right after. The phone interview led to another interview about a week later. This time, I met with the CEO, VP of Ops, and the HR Associate. They went over the job requirements and did a really thorough interview. The next day, I was asked back to interview with the Executive Leadership Team. There were about 8 people there, but they made me feel totally at ease. They stressed how crucial it was to find someone who matched the company in skills, personality, and culture. This interview went on for over two hours and was actually really enjoyable! We had a lively discussion about ideas and methods, and I felt comfortable sharing my thoughts. The questions they asked were informative, challenging, precise, and clearly aimed at getting a deep understanding of me.
- What is it that you are looking for in your life?
- What are your personal dreams and goals?
- In what ways do your personal dreams and goals connect with your professional ones?
