First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chapin International.
Product Manager
After applying online, I had a phone screening with the hiring manager. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview at the company's office with several members of the management team. The people were nice, but it was obvious that the new CEO and management were all new. Three of them came from a previous company, so it felt like a "good old boy club." I followed up several times afterwards but never heard about a decision. I found the company to be very unorganized and extremely unprofessional.
- Can you describe your previous role and explain why you're a suitable candidate for this position?
Engineer
I had a few meetings with the senior manager and the VP of HR. It felt like they didn't have a clear idea of what they wanted for the role. I tried asking about the day-to-day tasks and the future of the position, but they never answered. This became a problem later on. I'd suggest bringing a portfolio and be ready for all sorts of technical questions since this is a non-automated plastics and metal plant.
- What experience and skills do you have that can be applied directly to Chapin?
- Can you walk us through your professional portfolio?
- How well-prepared are you to handle various technical inquiries?
Customer Service Representative
It was a really awkward interview. The manager and HR didn't seem to know what questions to ask. They mostly asked about how my old company was run and what their procedures were, instead of focusing on what I could bring to the table. The manager's questions were unclear, and their poor communication skills were a big turn-off. Even the offer process was strange. The HR person wasn't friendly at all. When I said I was excited about the offer, they just stayed silent. I decided not to take the job because the interviewers lacked warmth, and I'd heard some negative things about the company's reputation in the community.
- Tell me about the way your last company operated.
- What kind of processes did your former employer use?
- What can you bring to our company based on your past experiences?
Systems/Network Administrator
I had a face-to-face interview with two senior managers and two department members. The atmosphere was really relaxed and friendly, not at all threatening. I got to ask a lot of my own questions, and they made me feel super comfortable the whole time. The senior managers were really professional but also light and approachable, and the department members knew their stuff and were happy to answer anything I asked.
- Can you share details about your current role?
- Could you describe your past experiences?
- Tell us something about yourself.
