First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Champs Sports.
Sales
They asked me a few questions about my past work and my availability, specifically asking if I could work weekends and holidays. They also asked how comfortable I am with customer interactions.
- Can you discuss your previous work history?
- Are you available to work weekends and holidays?
- How do you feel about engaging with people?
Cashier
The interview was pretty easy and straightforward. The interviewer was nice and descriptive about the role I was interviewing for. He had my resume printed and just asked questions based on that.
- Do you enjoy sales and how would you handle a difficult customer?
Sales Associate
The interview process was weird and a little nerve wracking but exciting, I had felt that in my gut I was going to ace this interview. Trust the first two questions that were ask were simple like what’s your background and what makes you think you’ll be a good fit here? To be honest I didn’t think would be at first because I can be social awkward around people and can feel isolated. Even the thought made me anxious, but I had to worry less and show them that I wasn’t a person they’d want to pass on.
- What makes you think you'd be a good pick to work with on this team?
Sales Associate
I filled out an application for the Sales Associate job online. Then I got a call to see if I was still interested. I said yes and they invited me in. When I got there, I was told to sit down with about 10 other people applying for the job. It turned out to be a group interview. We each had to introduce ourselves, say where we were from, why we wanted to work at Champs, and share something surprising about ourselves. They also asked other situational questions. The whole thing took about 30 minutes to an hour. In the end, I and some other eligible candidates weren't chosen, but three people were. I'm not sure what Champs looks for, but it wasn't much based on the people they picked. They encourage reapplying every 3 months, which made me think people quit a lot.
- Can you share an instance where you transformed an error into a favorable outcome?
- Describe a situation where you dealt with a scheduling conflict.
