I had a Zoom interview with a committee, and then a full day of interviews with lots of people, both in groups and one-on-one, including senior leadership. It was a packed day, but I really got a sense of the place.
- Could you share details about your background?
Assistant Professor
The interview process involved a two-day campus visit to Burlington, Vermont. This included a campus tour and dinner the evening before the formal interviews. The visit consisted of a teaching demonstration and meetings with both faculty and students. Additionally, there were meetings with the Dean and the Provost. Travel expenses like flights and hotels were covered for the two-day trip.

Had a 10-minute recruiter call with HR. They explained the job, what they wanted, and the benefits. The following week, I talked to two people who work closely with this role. They described the position's requirements differently from HR. I tried to focus on what HR mentioned, but the interviewers didn't like that. HR and the interviewers had different ideas about the job and the ideal candidate, which was confusing and frustrating.

The interview process was pretty standard for this type of job. They asked about my past experiences and how I've dealt with situations that might come up in this role. My only gripe is that after the interviews, which seemed to go really well, it took them six whole months to let me know I didn't get the job, which I kind of figured out by then.
