First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ChaiOne.
Data Scientist
The interview process was a marathon. I went through 5 rounds of interviews, not including a case study and a coding test. Honestly, even major tech companies don't have this many rounds. The case study felt like a real business problem they're dealing with, which was pretty interesting, but make sure you really think through your solutions before presenting them!
- Tell me about yourself and your experiences.
- What are your thoughts on general technology topics?
- How would you approach this case study problem?
Project Manager
I applied online and after an initial phone screen, I was invited for an in-office interview with the hiring manager. However, the hiring manager was sick, so instead of postponing, the recruiter kept the interview slot and I ended up interviewing with the hiring manager's boss. I felt the interview went well, and the recruiter told me I'd hear back that week about next steps and when an interview with the hiring manager would be scheduled. I tried following up for a month, but the recruiter ignored me. It's unprofessional not to follow up when you say you will, especially when I was told I'd hear back within the week.
- What standard behavioral questions do you have?
- Tell me about your experience.
User Researcher
I had a phone screener and then a phone interview with the hiring manager, but I didn't get the job. They asked some tough and unexpected questions in the hiring manager interview. When I asked for feedback after they rejected me, they said my answer to 'What is something you would like to work on about yourself?' was the reason why and that they were looking for more experience. I guess I really messed up there.
- What's an area you feel you aren't great at but want to get better in?
- Can you list three positive and three negative traits you bring as a team member?
- Which research methodology do you prefer?
iOS Engineer
I had to build an app to show news and pictures with REST. After they liked the app and moved me forward, I talked about the app with the team lead and another senior dev. We went over the frameworks and libraries I picked, plus the logic and algorithms.
- Can you tell me about your basic skills?
- Let's go over the test app you submitted.
