First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chainlink Labs.
Finance and Strategy
My interview experience at Chainlink Labs felt like shenanigans, unprofessional and more like a way to steal ideas without a real offer. It was 7 rounds over 3 months with many senior execs, including the CEO, all handled by a recruiter close to the company. All interviews went great with good feedback. The last step was a case study presentation on company strategy, which seemed like it would lead to an offer. They did pay me a few thousand for the consulting work, but I heard nothing after the presentation, total silence. Since then, they've used some of my ideas, so it feels like they got a great return on investment from this sham process. Candidates should think about how this company operates before putting too much time into case studies. I feel tricked after working so hard.

Events Marketing Director
So I had 4 rounds for this Director, Events Marketing role, some of them had multiple people on the call. Lots of technical questions. They asked me to do a presentation where it felt like they wanted me to give away my own intellectual property in a risk management situation related to one of their actual events. They said there would be no right or wrong answer, but when I presented in a way to not divulge my IP while still offering a positive solution with commercial impact, they got mad and ended the process. My take is, a candidate should never give a prospective employer advice on a crisis situation when there's no guarantee of employment. Don't let them steal your work.
- Imagine our annual conference loses its venue. What specific steps would you take, and what solutions and recommendations would you present to leadership, given complete ambiguity?
Product Manager
Applied online and then the recruiter reached out because my experience was "Highly Relevant" to set up a chat. We scheduled it, but on the morning of our call, I got a message saying "Thank you for your interest, we have filled a role". You know, when you're this close to filling a role (like, final interviews done, feedback being gathered, numbers being discussed, or an offer being approved/accepted), maybe pause and let your top candidate(s) decide. It's not only a sign of respect for their efforts but also saves everyone time and is just more professional. It seems off when you ask others to invest time and prep, only to tell them "Thanks, but no thanks" on the actual day.
- Scheduling questions for the initial screen.
Contracts Manager
The interview process for the Contracts Manager role was quite comprehensive, but overall a positive and good experience. Chainlink Labs maintained excellent communication, providing a clear outline of the interview stages from the beginning. This helped in preparing for each part and also allowed for meeting and understanding various stakeholders within the company. The process involved several steps, including initial screenings by the team lead, a review of my CV, behavioral interviews, technical rounds or assessments, and discussions with business stakeholders. The entire interview timeline spanned approximately one month. Despite the duration, it was a worthwhile endeavor, especially given the favorable outcome.
- Can you share some general questions about your personal experience?
- Do you have situational awareness questions related to legal tasks?
- What are your best practices and approaches to work?
