First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CertiK.
Business Development Associate
The interview started with an HR behavioural round to get to know me better, lasting 30 minutes. Next, the VP conducted a 30-minute session asking general questions about blockchain, the company, and my understanding of the role's responsibilities and expectations. This was followed by a 30-minute meeting with a BDM who asked more general questions about Certik Products and the role. The final round, also with a BDM, was quite brief (under 15 minutes) and focused on general sales questions. They asked about my last job and then we did Q&A, after which the interview ended quickly. While the interviewers were friendly and encouraging, I felt the final round, being crucial for an entry-level associate position, should have been longer than 15 minutes, and the interviewer should maintain a friendly approach regardless of a candidate's background.
- What are Certik's products?
- Try to sell Certik audit services to me.
- What is your motivation for transitioning from a tech job to a Business Development Associate position?
BI Analyst
It was straight to the point. They asked about my previous projects and then asked questions based on those projects. There was an Excel question. I didn't really like that I want to use Python, R, and Tableau, but it seems they won't be using those tools soon. They'll just use Excel. They also won't be dealing with large datasets, which is also not what I'm looking for.
- What's the quickest method to format a worksheet with distinct colors, similar to a financial report?
- Could you describe your prior projects?
- Do you have any questions based on your past project experiences?
Full Stack Developer
Certik first gave me a take-home challenge to build a webpage using React, mimicking a given design. It involved creating a radar chart and gauge charts using data from an API. I had 1 day to complete this, with a 7-day deadline. Then, someone else requested a different programming task, saying the first one didn't show my coding skills well enough. After some discussion, I used Python to write code for another problem. After that, I never heard back from them. It's a funny company; if they think I'm not good enough, they should just ignore my resume instead of wasting candidates' time. I've already accepted a full-time offer from a much better company than Certik.
- Given data from a dummy API, implement a webpage using React that displays companies sorted by score, featuring a radar chart and gauges, based on the design shown on their website.
- Following the React challenge, create another programming solution using Python to demonstrate your coding abilities.
Platform Engineer
Had one phone screen. The interviewer wasn't very clear and seemed to struggle with English. They asked why I'm the sole DevOps engineer at a huge company, which wasn't even something I mentioned. They also smirked midway and only asked about two actual relevant things. Plus, they were late. The most amusing part was them questioning my application given my 1.5 years of experience versus their stated 3-year requirement – ironic since they chose to interview me. If I asked for clarification on anything they said, they’d just give a confused look and stay quiet.
- Could you explain what a Python decorator is?
- Tell me about your experience with observability.
