First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CertaPro Painters.
Office Associate
I got an email from a recruiter at CertaPro about setting up a phone interview. It was Thursday and they only had a spot open for the next day at 4 PM. It was super short notice, so I asked if we could do sometime next week instead. We agreed on Tuesday at 9 AM. But then over the weekend, I got more emails from CertaPro asking why I hadn't scheduled an interview yet and to click the link to pick a time. When I did, there were no spots left. I messaged them Monday morning asking if our Tuesday 9 AM meeting was still on. The recruiter then changed our phone interview to Monday morning instead of Tuesday morning. This totally blindsided me. CertaPro called me while I was sleeping, asking to speak with me, and I had no idea they'd changed the time. I wasn't ready at all. They really didn't seem to care about my time as an applicant, which was really frustrating with CertaPro.
- Could you describe your past work experience?
Salesman
It was a long process with a bunch of interviews and a personality test. Started with a phone call, then I had in-person and zoom interviews. The last part was an in-office visit to see if I'd fit with the team. Honestly, it felt too long and drawn out. Took over 3 weeks in total.
- Can you discuss your responses to the personality test?
- What were your thoughts on the personality test questions?
General Manager
This was a pretty fast process, under two weeks from start to finish. I had two meetings with the hiring manager, then met with the VP and President. This part needed me to travel to their main office in Audubon, PA.
- Could you tell me about your experience with standard interview questions?
Marketing Manager
It's a pretty tough interview process for the actual corporate offices, not for a local franchise. First, a recruiter calls. Second, a call with the supervisor to learn about the job. Third, if you're still interested, another call with the supervisor to continue the interview. Fourth, if they like you, you do an assessment. Fifth, a few video interviews. Sixth, then you go to headquarters to meet the team. The personality assessment is key. It doesn't matter if they like you or you're perfect for the job, if your personality doesn't match what they're looking for, you won't move forward. They don't give feedback on why you weren't selected, even though they promise it. If you apply, make sure you have lots of free time or can get time off work to fit their schedule. For the first four rounds, I had to take about 4 hours off work.
- Tell me about someone you look up to.
- What's a recent learning experience you've had?
- Who is your closest friend?
