First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cerity Partners.
Principal
The interview process involved 3 interviews, which were conversational in nature with some analytical financial questions mixed in. It began with an HR phone call, then moved to several remote meetings with the team, and concluded with an in-office meeting with team members. The entire process spanned a few months.
- Could you tell me about your passions and interests?
Associate
Had an HR phone screen where I spoke with their Talent Acquisition specialist. It was a standard screening conversation. The TA person was friendly, but didn't give super clear info about what happens next. I thought I had moved on to the next stage, but I didn't hear anything back until after the time they said I would.
- Can you share a bit about your experience and tell me why you're interested in Cerity?
Wealth Management Intern
I had a prescreen where they walked through my resume and asked about my interest in the career path. They wanted to know why I applied and then we finished with Q/A. It was very polite and straight forward, no technical or behavioral questions. We also discussed the summer experience and who I'll be interacting with.
- What financial technical experience do you have?
Wealth Planner
First I had an initial chat with the company recruiter, which was nice. Then, I interviewed with two wealth advisors over Zoom. That was not a good experience. They didn't focus on my experience or what the job would entail. Instead, they spent 20 minutes asking me why I left my last job. They thought it was a red flag that I would look for a new job while still employed. They also insinuated that since I have a young child, my work hours would be from 5 am to 6 pm. I never heard back after that.
- What was the reason for your departure from your last position?
- Can you explain why you didn't continue working at your previous company while searching for a new opportunity?
- Is it true that you have a trust fund or inheritance that enabled you to do this?
