Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cerebras (CA).
Kernel Engineer
I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. We had a phone call where she discussed several open positions that I was interested in and felt I would be a good fit for. I selected the Kernel Engineering role. After that, I was scheduled to interview with the hiring manager, but unfortunately, my skills weren't quite there yet. The hiring team let me know about this quickly.
- Can you describe the GPU instruction pipeline and its differences compared to the CPU's?
Engineer
The interview process started with two rounds with managers, which were pretty easy. After that, there were five technical rounds. Most of the technical rounds were also easy, but one didn't go so well, and I suspect that's why they didn't proceed with my application.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
Kernel Engineer
There was one interview where we talked about computer architecture and some compiler basics. They also threw in a couple of Leetcode style questions which felt a bit random. The interviewer was pretty chill and offered hints when I got stuck on a problem. I didn't actually write any code, just had to explain my thought process. I guess they thought I needed too much help and ended up rejecting me.
- Can you explain how to calculate the prefix sum for a 2D array?
