Machine Adjuster
Was referred by an employee, submitted resume. Had a first interview with the production manager and HR manager. They asked a few questions, mostly about my mechanical experience. Got a call back two days later with an offer, which I accepted. Filled out paperwork for a background check and a drug test. The plant is unionized but the benefits are not great, with employees paying half the premium for family plans (up to $400/month), no dental/vision, and no disability insurance. The 401(k) has no company match. Vacation time is earned after a full calendar year.
- Were there any unexpected or unusual questions asked during the interview?
Sales Representative
I had a one-on-one interview with a senior sales rep at Cenveo. It was pretty relaxed and the interviewer was really nice. I knew beforehand that the company's finances aren't great and are getting worse, but that wasn't brought up, which I didn't expect. Since most initial interviews are just to see if you're a fit, I didn't really get a sense of the company culture or how they do business.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
- What makes you want to pursue a career in sales?
- Describe your leadership style.
Machine Adjuster
First, I talked to the HR manager who asked me some easy questions. Then, the operations manager took me to see the plant and some of the machines. They offered me a job, but the schedule was different from what was advertised - an overnight position. It's a decent union shop though, and I'm willing to do the overnight shift, but it wasn't what I initially applied for. I'm told I need to have another interview with the GM before I can be hired. I'm waiting to hear back about that.
- Are you mechanically inclined?
