Behavioral Presentation

I interviewed with the CFO, COO, and another high-level executive at their office. The office environment felt really depressing. They changed the plan last minute, and the recruiter didn't show up to meet me in the lobby. The lobby was right next to someone's office, basically in a closet. In there, I could hear people yelling about someone not properly handling data metrics. Then I met with the executives for 2 hours. I was super prepared and gave them advice on structuring a compliance department since they didn't have one. They wrote down everything I said. The room felt awkward, with dim lighting and a weird atmosphere, like a bedroom. The job was combined with an attorney position, which made me think they were trying to get free ideas from candidates because they were too unethical to pay for them or compensate someone properly. It was one of the most negative follow-ups I've experienced; they contacted me saying they were reconsidering the role. I looked into it, and this company has been sued a lot under different names. It just didn't seem right. In my opinion, it's not a legitimate place.

I had an initial screening with HR, and a couple of weeks later, I interviewed with the hiring manager, who felt I was a good match for their needs. Then, after another few weeks, I had an interview with a group of VPs. The whole process spanned about three months and seemed to go well. The HR representative indicated they would finalize things within a week and promised to provide updates. Despite sending multiple emails to HR and the hiring team for status, I never received any response. They ignored my follow-ups, providing neither updates nor a rejection notice, which felt like a waste of time.

When applying for this role as an outsider, they give priority to internal employees first. Only if none of them are qualified will they consider external applicants. If you do get the position, be aware that some current employees might resent you for getting the role without going through their process, creating some workplace drama similar to a high school setting where they have trouble accepting someone new who is in a better position.

They have you do an online assessment before the in-person interview. I heard they changed it up a bit since I applied, but it wasn't super hard, just unexpected so I wasn't ready for the hands-on parts. It could be an issue if you're not paying attention and might make you fail the assessment. If you pass that, you have the face-to-face interview, which is pretty standard. They basically hired me right after the drug test.
