First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Central Parking System.
Parking Attendant
The interviewer was very nice. Even though the office seemed intimidating, they understood that the job isn't super professional, so they mainly wanted to see if you're a hard worker and if you can follow directions.
- Can you handle standing for extended periods?
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement and how you resolved it.
- What are your work ethics like?
Valet Attendant
I went to the interview at the Hotel Contessa parking area, not inside. Another valet told me to wait there. A short guy in a suit came out, looked unhappy, shook my hand, and introduced himself. He said he'd be with me in a bit and had me wait for 15 minutes while he was busy in his office. He was really abrasive during the interview, but I really needed the job so I put up with it.
- Are you available to work evenings and on weekends?
Help Desk Technician
I was contacted by a recruiter for this role. The first meeting was with the hiring manager and someone who was leaving the position I was applying for, at the recruiter's office. I was the only one selected for a second interview, which took place a week later at the corporate office. The office is overcrowded, and the help desk team is temporarily moving to a make-shift conference room. The second interview involved two panel interviews. The first panel was with two help desk employees, and the hiring manager facilitated. They didn't have my resume, but I had brought copies. I noticed one panelist seemed uncomfortable with my visible tattoos. Both were significantly younger than me. The second panel included the hiring manager's boss and a programmer. The boss asked why I was job hunting after a short tenure at my current role, so I highlighted my long previous employment and my desire for a stable work environment. I also demonstrated I'd researched the company by mentioning their limited social media and a broken link on their site. Afterwards, the hiring manager (who mentioned tattoos were not an issue) and the first interviewer discussed my candidacy and indicated a decision would be made soon. After a week of no news, I emailed the recruiter, who ignored me. Another week passed, and he finally left a voicemail asking me to call for feedback, implying I didn't get the offer.
- Why are you looking for another job when you've only been at your current job for less than two years.
- What are your thoughts on our social media presence?
- Did you find any broken links on our website?
Technical Analyst
The hiring process is quite long. First, some of your future coworkers interview you. If they think you're a good fit, the department manager interviews you. Then, you might wait for weeks to hear back about the next step, which is interviews with the hiring manager's colleagues. You spend a lot of time on this, and they make it seem like you might get an offer, but they are bad at following up and never tell you if the job gets filled. It feels disrespectful to have put in so many hours and not even get a message saying they hired someone else. I was left with a really bad impression of the company. People there hint at a tough work environment and the need for better processes. The office looks really old, with bad lighting and a generally depressing vibe. Plus, it's in one of Nashville's worst traffic jams.
- How would you go about figuring out what's wrong with some software?
- Can you tell me what a primary key is in a database context?
