First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CenterPoint Energy.
Customer Service Representative
I had a remote interview with a panel of 3 people. They each asked questions and responded to my answers, sometimes all 3 would chime in. They talked about the benefits and confirmed the hourly pay. I got an offer the same week and had 2 days to decide. They set up the drug screening fast and I had to send in documents for my identity, work history, education, and to prove I could work in the US. After that, things got really slow. It took ages to get cleared because a third-party screening company kept rejecting my documents, making me resubmit them multiple times. That was the toughest part. I had to quit my job at the time.
- Can you tell me about a difficult situation you faced at work and how you managed it?
Customer Service Associate
I applied for the Associate Customer Service role in June. About a month later, I got an invite for an interactive interview, which was pretty neat. Three weeks after that, they called me to set up an in-person interview. It was held in a big room with other candidates. There were about 8-10 employees from Centerpoint, two per room, ready to interview us. My interviewer was really RUDE and condescending, which was weird for a customer service job. I answered clearly using the STAR method and some experience from a similar industry. He seemed intimidated for some reason. If you want this job, you gotta act dumb!
- How do you deal with pressure?
- Can you commit to the schedule?
- What made you apply to this company?
Customer Service Representative
after I finished the application, I got an email to take an assessment. After passing that, about a day later, I got an email to do a hirevue. Then, around 4-5 days later, I was contacted for a panel interview with 3 supervisors. The interview went well. 4 business days after that, I received an offer of employment, which was dependent on passing a background check and drug screen.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker. How did you deal with it and what happened in the end?
