Content Writer and Editor
I think there were 3 interviews total, and one of them was a writing test. The whole thing took about a month. It was pretty easy overall, but took longer than you'd want when job hunting.
- Can you share an instance where you navigated a challenging circumstance?
Director of Engineering
It started with a call from an independent recruiter, then another recruiter from a different agency who works with a CTO consultant from Fortium Partners, but not for CEHE directly. There were two screening calls, followed by a phone interview with the interim CTO consultant. This consultant seemed annoyed and uninterested, and was judgmental about me not having a BS degree, despite my 20+ years of experience. He talked about how he'd already set the direction for CEHE's business and tech setup, even though they're hiring a new CTO and Director of Engineering. When I suggested a change to align with CEHE's needs, he seemed put off. I don't think a consultant should be making these decisions or screening candidates, which speaks to the organization's quality. He only works 3 days a week, so each step took weeks. I would not recommend this company; it was a waste of time due to their inadequate priorities and interest in hiring qualified people. Putting a consultant in charge of all decisions instead of listening to advice is dangerous. Their low reviews make sense now. Steer clear.
- Tell me about your background, experience, and future goals.
Financial Aid Specialist
It was pretty standard for remote roles. Started with a screening phone call, then a live Zoom interview, and a follow-up interview. The first live one had a bunch of people from the department, maybe 4 or 5, and other candidates too, which was kinda weird. The follow-up interview was the last step before an offer, and it was with the same department folks plus maybe one or two others, but this time it was just me. They were pretty quick getting back to you within a couple days on whether you were moving forward.
- They were pretty focused on why someone wants to work remotely, and how they will be able to maintain productivity.
Admissions Assistant
They were super nice and accommodating through the whole interview process, no tricky questions or anything tough. It was two rounds of interviews, plus a really unusual online skills test I had to do at home where I had to quickly spot patterns and do math problems. Then I also shadowed an employee for thirty minutes.
- What makes you feel that attending college is important?
