Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cengage.
Intern
The whole interview process took about a month. It started with an HR interview, who was very friendly and inquired about my past experiences, covering both my academic and work history. Following that was a Manager review, where I was asked questions related to the profession and my previous roles, with a particular emphasis on identifying my 'transferred skills'.
- Can you tell me about your previous experience?
Intern
Had a short, unstructured phone interview. The manager was over 20 minutes late and didn't ask many questions. It was a bad experience overall. The interview scheduling took two weeks for a response, and the manager didn't seem prepared. There's no way to prepare for this type of interview, you just have to get lucky.
- Can you tell me about your resume?
Intern
First, there was a phone screening with an HR recruiter, then a call with the specific manager(s) for the role. They asked basic questions to check if I had done my research, followed by behavioral questions. The role-specific details came up in later calls.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
