Applied twice over two months before getting noticed for a role I was a perfect fit for. It was for a director-level, senior-management position, likely managing other managers in a multi-site setup. The job had 47 responsibilities listed, and I brought over 30 years of diverse experience. I expected a more in-depth interview given the role and my background. However, it was only scheduled for 30 minutes via Zoom, which had technical issues on their end, causing interruptions and crashes. The hiring manager spent half the time rehashing job details already in the description, which I already understood given my experience. In the limited time left, they quickly asked a few generic behavioral questions like 'tell me about a time you faced a difficult challenge,' which felt trivial for this role as challenges are constant. They left me only about three minutes to ask questions, so I couldn't ask most of the ones I prepared after researching the company, products, finances, and people extensively. I received a generic rejection a few days later. It felt like a complete waste of my time.

Got a call from the recruiter for screening, then a 1-on-1 with the hiring manager over zoom. If I passed that, I was invited for an onsite panel interview. The whole process was quick and the questions were pretty easy. I took a day off for the 1-on-1 and felt like I did okay. But then, I was ghosted. The recruiter said I did great and to email them to speed things up, which I did. Eventually got a generic rejection email. What a waste of my time. Good luck dealing with this kind of culture.

Cellares HR and other teams reached out on LinkedIn due to my experience. I had an initial chat with HR which went well. Then, I interviewed with the hiring manager, but he kept cutting me off, looking for a specific answer. Following that, I spoke with a staff engineer. I advanced to a presentation round. Despite informing HR about my unavailability during a specific week due to travel, they scheduled the interview then. The presentation went great, but ultimately I did not get an offer. It was quite a letdown.

The cellares interview process was pretty simple. The recruiter was super helpful and always got back to me. It started with a recruiter call, then a hiring manager call, followed by a 2-hour Zoom meeting with about 10 people and a 40-minute presentation that I had to get ready for. Both the recruiter and hiring manager were really professional and supportive. The group Zoom call felt a bit all over the place, but again, the recruiter was good at communicating and honest about how things were going. I didn't get an offer, probably because of the experience they were looking for, but it seems like they're open to hiring people from different backgrounds.
