Project Manager
I submitted my resume on LinkedIn and a recruiter got in touch pretty quickly to set up an initial phone screen. The next step would have been a formal interview, but it seemed like the recruiter already decided whether to move me forward before we even spoke.
- Can you discuss your experience in IT project management?
- What is your experience as a product owner?
Sales Manager
The recruiter tried to sell me on the company and position, but the job posting mentioned a pay scale of $50-$90k annually, which I thought was the base pay. The actual position is $10 an hour with the potential to earn up to that amount. I think it's better to be upfront about the base pay from the start instead of making candidates wait to reveal it after an hour-long call. I don't think anyone can live on $10 an hour for a month. The recruiter explained that the first month would involve learning the system, getting an overview of the job, and understanding their role.
- Rachel, can you tell me about yourself?
Program Support Specialist
There were two interviews. First was with the recruiter, covering basics and my background. Second was with the IT Team, focusing on my work, knowledge, and future interests. It was a pretty straightforward and pleasant process overall.
- What got you into IT?
- What projects and experience do you have?
- What are you interested in learning and pursuing in your career?
Account Executive
First up was a phone interview with the talent acquisition director to see if I was a good fit and to get more info on the company and the role. If I was qualified and liked what I heard, the next step was an interview with the sales manager I'd be working with.
- Is a base salary of $25,000/year with uncapped commissions acceptable to you?
- Would you be alright with using your personal car for appointments, 4 days a week, and only getting mileage reimbursement?
