So the interview process was pretty simple. First, I had to fill out an online application. Then, I had a screening call with a recruiter where they asked about my past jobs, my customer service abilities, and if I could work on a cruise ship. Lastly, there was a quick online interview with the hiring manager.

Had a bunch of phone and zoom interviews for this role. They were all pretty chill and low-key, the interviewers were really nice and easy to chat with. However, after 8 calls/meetings over several weeks, they still hadn't decided, so I accepted another job offer.

The interview was pretty simple, done over Skype video chat from home. I was asked a few questions that were easy because I've worked with kids before. No surprises. Just keep kids' safety in mind, know you'll be doing activities at work, and that you'll collaborate with international colleagues, and you'll be good. If you're going for a youth counselor role, you know you're dealing with families on vacation and your main job is to keep the kids entertained and happy so the parents are happy. People complain on cruises a lot because they know they can get free stuff by complaining to guest relations. As a youth counselor, you'll run high-energy games, do crafts, help with family BINGO, scavenger hunts, TRIVIAS, pirate hunts, and pizza making.

I had two interviews over Skype. The first was with the recruiter, and the second was with the training director and someone else in charge of training for all 10 ships. For the second interview, I had to prepare a 15-minute presentation on any topic. Both times, their Skype connection was bad. The first person said he had issues all day. The two ladies in the second interview seemed to struggle with Skype, and at one point the signal cut out. I made a 15-minute PowerPoint, which they called a 'training deck'. I thought it needed handouts and an outline, so I prepared a full training, but they only watched about 3 minutes. Then one asked if I had used the presentation before, which felt insulting given my background. It was just a 15-minute presentation, not complex.
