First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cedarville University.
Assistant Director
The people were incredibly kind and thorough throughout the entire process. I met a plethora of people I was going to work with and they were all so welcoming. 10/10 work culture and the people clearly live it out!
- What do you consider your greatest strengths?
- What motivates your interest in working at Cedarville?
AV Technician
Had a casual interview with questions about me and the job. They wanted to see if I was reliable and a good team player. It felt really relaxed, like they wanted me to get the job and join the team! The team seemed great and they always pushed me to do my best and develop career skills for my future. Cedarville is a great place to work.
- What makes you want this particular job?
Admissions Counselor
After I reached out, I applied and spoke with HR. Once HR gave the okay, I had a 30-min phone chat with the Associate Director of Undergrad Recruitment/Admissions. Then, I was invited for a half-day visit to the campus. There, I interviewed with the AD again for 45 min, chatted with the current counseling team in a round table for 45 min, and spoke with the Assistant VP for Undergrad/Grad Admissions for 30 min. I also did a mock presentation and had to give an impromptu sales pitch. A few days after I got back, I had one last phone interview with the University chancellor. This whole thing shows they're looking for serious, qualified people, and that's who they get.
- How would you handle situations with a lot of pressure?
Professor
The interview process was quite extended, spanning three full days, which felt very exhausting. I must commend the administrative assistants; they were incredibly helpful. The faculty members were also great – they were engaged, supportive, and readily available for discussions. However, the upper administration seemed a bit out of touch with the practicalities of the hiring process. Due to requirements, I had to make a second trip to meet with the trustees. The trustees, in my experience, were a peculiar group. They lacked in-depth knowledge of the academic disciplines but were required to approve every faculty appointment, presumably to ensure adherence to certain doctrines. This was a significant part of the overall process.
- The trustees asked some questions that seemed completely unrelated to the job.
- Do you have any random, irrelevant questions for us?
- Can you elaborate on your research in [specific discipline]?
