Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Executive Assistant
Applied online. Got past the first HR screening. Then a department person called to set up two 30-minute interviews, one with a coworker and one with the Exec I'd be assisting. It was nice, but the portal needed like 4-5 references to do surveys, which is a lot for busy C-Suite folks. Kind of a pain to use up their time and an 'ask' on surveys so early, wish I hadn't.
- What is motivating your departure from your current role?
Staff Assistant
I applied online in November, and the interview was a couple of weeks later in December. It was about 45 minutes with my potential manager and immediate supervisor. It seemed to go well, and they said I should hear back soon because they needed to hire someone quickly. However, what followed was 2.5 months of constant delays and excuses from HR. They kept telling me I was a top candidate and well-received, but they were just reorganizing the department. Then they asked if I'd consider a temporary position. Finally, HR called to say they hired an internal candidate after all that. The whole process from the first interview to the decision took just over 2 months.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered and how you dealt with it?
- What is your approach to resolving disagreements with colleagues?
- Could you share an example of a project you found rewarding and explain your contribution?
Administrative Assistant
The interview wasn't too tough, mostly just introductory stuff. They reviewed my resume and then asked more detailed questions about my past roles. After the resume review, they asked for examples and scenarios that showed off my skills.
