CECO Environmental Interview Questions
& Process

So after we applied on the CECO website, HR will give us a call and arrange for the interview, and two rounds will be conducted. The first round will be an interview and the final interview will be a technical round. The interview purely belongs to technical.

The interview with the hiring manager was really bad. He was late, kept yawning and looking uninterested, like he'd already decided to reject me. His questions seemed to be just to prove that. He asked random stuff not related to the job, and then basically repeated my answers. It felt like he thought I didn't belong there, and he compared my background to his, even though I have relevant experience and went to a good school. One 'tell me about a time' question was disrupted by him yawning and then rushing me to the end. He could've at least covered his mouth. I saw another review about bias before this. I'm sharing this so others are warned. Keep trying your best, even if the interviewer seems checked out. I don't expect anything from the company because this person is quite senior, and I feel bad for his direct reports. His answers to my follow-up questions were rude and unprofessional. The recruiter, though, was nice.

The interview process took 3 months. It started with a recruiter contacting me for an initial interview. I didn't hear back for a month. They weren't comfortable with the recruiting company, so they had me do another initial interview another month later. Then, I waited 2 more weeks for an interview with the sales manager. Nobody contacted me back for a week after that. I had to reach out to the recruiting company to find out about the decision. She said I did great but lacked the 'technical experience' for an entry-level sales role, even though the description said experience wasn't required. They knew I didn't have the technical experience from the start. It was a waste of 3 months and time off from my current job.

The interview process started off great. The first round with the hiring manager was smooth, and I was invited for an on-site interview with the leadership team, which also went great. The recruiter was super nice and accommodating every step of the way, making the process very pleasant initially. However, the final round with their Dubai partner was a completely different experience. From the moment the interview started, it was clear that he had no intention of giving me a fair chance. He was unprofessional and rude, and within the first 30 seconds, I could tell he had already made up his mind. Instead of asking relevant technical questions, he repeatedly said, "I’m not convinced you can do this job." This was surprising, considering the role wasn’t a senior position, and I had twice the experience required, including extensive knowledge of the specific system they needed. I strongly believe his attitude had nothing to do with my abilities and everything to do with my nationality, although I can’t prove it. It was a disappointing and disheartening experience, but I decided to move on.
