I went through a standard interview process. First, I had a chat with HR, then a follow-up conversation with the hiring manager. The hiring manager asked rigid questions focused on Agile process knowledge. Since I have CSPO and CSM certifications, I felt this was a misuse of time. I wish it had delved into actual product discipline, industry knowledge, or organizational capabilities instead.

The interview started with a recruiter call which was fine. Then there was a video call with the hiring manager and a peer Product person. I was the only one on video. The hiring manager seemed impatient as the peer was late. There was no real intro or context provided about the role, team, or company. The peer asked the first question, and I started to explain my background with CDK and their products. The hiring manager abruptly told me to just answer the question. The peer then asked a series of disorganized, rambling questions, and I wasn't allowed to elaborate. The peer left, and the hiring manager asked more random questions before the peer returned. The interview was meant to be an hour, but after the first 10 minutes, I felt the team was very authoritarian and uncaring. The hiring manager asked my questions and spoke for over 20 minutes. I ended up wondering why anyone would want to work there, especially considering recent security issues. The world now values people, and this culture seemed toxic.

It was a 10-minute call where they asked about me, my experience, skills, and interests. Also asked about soft skills, what I'd get from the internship, and why I'm interested in CDK. Then I had the chance to ask questions. It was a pretty standard interview.
