The whole process was kind of hard to figure out and they didn't really say what they were looking for. I went through a bunch of interviews and never heard anything back or got any feedback, which made it feel all over the place, kinda demotivating, and like they didn't really care about my time.
- During the interviews, were you asked about your age?

The interview itself went fine, the interviewers were friendly and asked standard questions. However, the HR department was one of the worst I've dealt with. My resume indicated I was out of state, but HR wanted to schedule an in-person interview and was surprised when I asked if they were open to out-of-state applicants. They said they'd check with the hiring manager. I got an email invitation with the agreed time, but then another email said the first was a mistake. When I asked for clarification, they called me and HR re-affirmed the email mistake. It wasn't a mistake, but HR thought I had interviewed in person the day before (I don't have a common name, so I'm unsure how this happened). After the interview, I got two emails. The first was a generic invitation to an interview. The second, a few minutes later, said they decided to move forward with another candidate. I got no response when I asked for clarification. If this is how the CCSI team works, I'd caution anyone considering working there to think twice.
- They inquired about my suitability for a consulting role, specifically regarding flexibility and working with billable hours in mind.
Planning Manager
I had a phone screen with a recruiter who was nice and thought I had transferrable skills from my resume, so they recommended me for an interview. The interview was on Zoom, which I'm not a big fan of because it's hard to get a feel for the company culture and it's 2024, so I thought most interviews would be in person again. This job was for CCSI but would involve working with Monroe County staff. The interview panel had 2 MC staff and 2 CCSI staff. One of the MC staff was really condescending and kept interrupting me to 'test my knowledge' even though I have a master's in this field and years of experience in local behavioral health agencies. They clearly didn't think my experience was transferrable like the recruiter did. They seemed to want someone with years of supervisory experience, even though it wasn't listed as required or preferred in the job posting. The job posting also made the role sound more like a coordinator than a manager, despite the title. They asked me twice how I would manage staff, even after I said I haven't managed before but explained my philosophy on supervision based on my education and experiences. Three times, they asked how I stay organized and manage competing deadlines. It felt like they weren't listening, and it also seemed like a red flag that they expect new staff to fix disorganization without acknowledging it. It was clear I wasn't who they were looking for, which was fine by me after how the interview went. However, weeks later, HR emailed saying I withdrew my application, which I didn't. I emailed back explaining this and asking for clarification, and HR replied they chose someone else. This felt deceptive, unless it was an accidental automated response. Based on other reviews, it seems like I dodged a bullet.
- Do you have any supervisory experience?
- How would you handle managing someone who supervises others?
- How do you keep yourself organized and on top of your work requirements?
