First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CBS TV Distribution.
Financial Analyst
I first reached out to the hiring manager via email with my resume and cover letter. I did a bit of research on CBS beforehand, but not too much. When I arrived for the interview, they had me do an Excel and Word test on the computer. I did okay on Excel (75% in 30 min) and better on Word (92% in 15 min), but the tests were annoying because they didn't explain mistakes and software glitches counted as errors. I had to be super careful with the mouse. Then, I met with two managers for interviews, each lasting about 20-30 minutes. One of the other managers joined my first interview. They were all pretty chill and asked behavioral and personality questions. It felt like a casual chat.
- What makes you want to join CBS?
- Could you tell me about your extracurricular activities or previous work experiences?
AP Specialist
It was a good experience from the recruiter call to the hiring manager meeting. I talked with the hiring manager and she was pleasant. We discussed my previous work experience and her expectations for this AP Specialist role. Apparently, there was a new opening for this position that had recently opened. My only suggestion would be for the recruiters to give previous candidates an opportunity to be contacted to see if they are still interested.
- What would you do in a hostile employee situation?
Intern
I got an unexpected phone call from an HR manager for an interview. They interviewed me on the spot, so it's good to do your research beforehand in case they call. It wasn't very long, and she asked only a few questions, so make sure your answers are well-formulated because you don't have much time to make a good impression.
- What aspects of Entertainment Tonight do you appreciate?
Assistant
I met with HR and did a computer test on Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). First, I had a brief chat with HR. After that, I met with the hiring manager for about a half-hour to an hour. Everyone was really nice, and I got the job. (The company was Paramount at first, then became CBSTD).
