The interview process started with an initial call with a recruiting agency where we discussed my resume and some general vetting questions. The main interview day with CBInsights was, in my opinion, quite bad. It was conducted virtually over Zoom with a disorganized schedule. Being virtual meant that some less competent interviewers could dominate the conversation, something that likely wouldn't happen in person. It also seemed like a lot of the other candidates were from Penn State. Honestly, it was a terrible experience, probably the worst I've ever had. CBInsights can say their process is designed to filter people, and I guess I was filtered as intended, but if they're hiring based on that day, they're being unrealistic. I might not be the right fit for them, but they definitely didn't do a good job of figuring out who is and isn't a good fit.

The process involved an initial phone screening with the SDR manager, followed by an SDR assignment. Then there was a "Superday" interview that included the Manager, SDRs, AEs, and the SVP of Sales. The final stage was a conversation with the Co-Founder. Everyone I spoke with was patient and seemed genuinely honest. They were open to discussing difficult topics and their own uncertainties. The company moved quickly, but it felt manageable for me, and they were accommodating with my start date.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

After I applied, I got a phone screening about a week later. They asked pretty basic questions about me and what I know about CB Insights. Then I did a mock sales call with an existing SDR. After that, I went to the NYC office to meet with 6 people for about 2 hours. It was a mix of regular interview questions and ones specific to CB Insights and my motivation to join. The last step was a quick call with the COO, Jon Sherry, a few days after the onsite.
