First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Caylent.
Software Engineer
The recruiter was super helpful the whole time. I had two really deep technical interviews about system design, software architecture, and cloud stuff, especially AWS. Both interviews were about 90 minutes long, and they covered both theory and practical problem-solving. They ended up extending an offer, and everything was communicated clearly and professionally.
- Can you discuss system design and software architecture with a focus on cloud and AWS?
- What are your thoughts on theoretical aspects of system design, software architecture, and cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS?
- How would you approach practical problem-solving in system design, software architecture, and cloud infrastructure using AWS?
Software Engineer
The hiring process had 3 interviews. First, I spoke with a recruiter who reviewed my resume to check if my experience was relevant. Then, there were two technical interviews. In these, I had to design a cloud-based system using AWS components. I had to discuss the trade-offs and explain my choices. The recruiters were very knowledgeable about the domain and asked sharp questions about the solutions. The process was open, supportive, and fair. I got quick feedback after each step, so I always knew where I stood.
- Can you explain how you would build a back-end system for a blog?
Software Engineer
I went through a 3-round interview process with Caylent. First was a chat with HR about my background. Then, the next two rounds were technical, focusing on system design with AWS. The people were nice, and interviews were about an hour each, but the whole thing was kinda messy. Their communication was all over the place. After the second interview, I got an email saying they were going with other candidates, then minutes later another saying they messed up and wanted to keep talking to me. Scheduling the third interview was weird because the interviewer wasn't free for a whole month, which seemed odd for a company hiring people. This made me wonder about their organization. After the last interview, it got even worse with communication. I had to chase them multiple times, and they'd either reply super late or not at all. Even the person who referred me said there weren't any open roles but maybe soon. He did say I passed the interviews, but they were waiting for a role that fit me. It really felt like a waste of my time interviewing when they didn't even have positions. The whole process was disorganized and not transparent. I'd tell others to be aware of this. It's been months and I never got a clear rejection, basically ghosted after interviews spread out over months.
- Can you describe how you would build a blog using AWS?
- Explain how you would migrate an application from on-premises to AWS, assuming you're explaining it to a client who might not be technical.
